DEFENCE HEADQUARTERS QUALITY ASSESSMENT TEAM VISITS NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY

A Team from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) visited the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) today, 29th February 2024, on quality assessment checks on all aspects of cadets training at the NDA.

The Team, which was received at the NDA Headquarters, Afaka, by the Deputy Commandant, Air Vice Marshal SK Aneke, on behalf of the Commandant NDA, Major General JO Ochai, is expected to spend their time in NDA critically examining all aspects of training and all training equipment, with a view to evaluating training modules and making recommendations to DHQ on ways to further improve training at NDA.

Speaking during a briefing organised for the assessment team at the Loyalty Conference Hall,the Team leader, Major General AA Ariyibi, stated that the visit is in furtherance of the Chief of Defence Staff’s commitment and dedication towards ensuring all defence establishments work optimally to actualise the mandate for which they were established.He also noted that as a defence training institution, NDA is a linchpin for capacity building and development in the armed forces, hence the need for DHQ to conduct regular quality assessment checks.He assured that the overall aim of the assessment visit is to find areas in which DHQ can assist NDA to better carry out its onerous responsibilities.

While noting that the NDA is a critical enabler for manpower development in the Nigerian armed forces, since it is the primary source of entry for officers in the three services,Major General Aribiyi insisted that it was imperative that the DHQ ensures NDA carries out its responsibilities optimally and efficiently.He added that regular assessment would help to achieve this.

During their time at the NDA Headquarters, a detailed brief of training activities in NDA was presented to the DHQ Assessment Team
This was followed by an interactive session between the DHQ Team and NDA Principal Staff Officers. Thereafter, the DHQ Team was led on a tour round training facilities at the Academy.
