Dr S Ahmed was born on 07 Sept 72 at Zango Local Govt Katsina State, he attended Hussaini Primary School Zango and also attended Govt Sec Technical School Mashi where he obtained SSCE. After completion his first degree and NYSC, He joined the services NDA as Assistant Lecturer in March 2000. His qualification includes B.Eng from Bayero University Kano in 1998, M.Eng Civil Engineering (Water Resources) from ATBU Bauchi in 2007 and PhD Civil Engineering (Water Resources) from NDA in 2014. He was promoted to the rank of Lecturer II in 2007 and Lecturer I in 2009 and also promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2015. He was last promoted to Assoc Prof in Oct 2020. He is a registered member of COREN.
Dr S Ahmed was appointed as Head, Department of Civil Engineering from 2017 to date. As HOD, Dr Saminu successfully commenced M.Eng Structures, Geotechnics and Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. He also Commenced MSc and PGD Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in collaboration with National Water Resources Institute (NWRI). He also Successfully commenced PhD in Geotechnics, Structures and Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. He also secured Full-Accreditation for the B.Eng Civil Engineering Degree Programmed by COREN and NUC. Other achievements includes making the Department wood work Shop active by producing office chairs, tables, book shelves etc which also improves the cadet’s practical knowledge in the workshop. He also Created computer software laboratory and E library of 45 and 18 computers respectively for cadets’ use. He also successfully completed the Feasibility Survey/ Investigation report for the construction of Earth Dam in NDA Permanent Site. He also succeeded in creation of a new Conference Room for the dept and also construction of 12 parking capacity car park for staff use in the department.
