President Muhammadu Buhari has said his government has embraced various methods and techniques to curb insurgency and that government is committed and remains focused in the face of the current security challenges confronting the country.

The President gave this assurance while addressing Passing Out Cadets of 68 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), during the passing out parade(POP )which was held at the NDA Parade Ground in Afaka.

The President, who was the Reviewing Officer at the POP, revealed that security is vital for national cohesion, peace and sustainable development and that is why his government remains relentless, focused and committed in the fight against insurgency, banditry and other forms of criminal activities in the country. He noted that this was necessary so citizens can strive to live in peace and harmony and development can go on smoothly he said.

Furthermore, the President disclosed that his government has immensely diminished the numbers and greatly reduced the activities of terrorists, kidnappers and bandits. He also added that his government is working to curb the menace by deploying security personnel to hotspot areas where the evil perpetrators are operating.

He also said his government has bought more military equipment and machinery to properly equip the security forces to adequately tackle the task ahead of them.

He commended the NDA for its contributions to national security by the introduction of counterterrorism and counterinsurgency training in the Academy, which he noted will help prepare the cadets adequately so they can contribute their own positive quota towards the defence of the nation and the restoration of peace.

The President lauded the efforts of the Commandant NDA, Major General Ibrahim Manu Yusuf, and all officers, soldiers and civilian staff of the Academy for all their efforts in raising the highest quality officers for the Armed Forces and the country at large.

He further congratulated the cadets on the completion of the rigorous training at the Academy and said the training has helped in shapening them to become disciplined officers, full of self esteem, and a sense of accomplishment. He charged them to always remain disciplined, committed and dedicated to the nation, always putting national interest before self-interest.

Highpoints of the event include presentation of souvenir to the Reviewing Officer and to the deserving Passing Out Cadets, Administration of Oath of allegiance, and Commissioning ceremony.
