Sunday Olawale Okeniyi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, an M. Sc. and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was an Ahmadu Bello University Postgraduate Scholar. He is currently a Professor at the Chemistry Department of the Nigerian Defence Academy. He is a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), a Fellow of the Institute of Chattered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON), Member, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Member, American Chemical Society (ACS), Member and former Secretary of Rotary Club of Kaduna – Tudunwada.
Professor Okeniyi has carried out extensive researches in the area of organic and natural product chemistry and published over 80 refereed journal articles and several chapters in different books, peer reviewed numerous books and journal articles, co-edited 2 books, and delivered several academic planning Policy-oriented lectures to Registrars and Directors of Academic Planning in Nigerian Universities. He was also an Acting Academy Provost at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna – Nigeria (2012 – 2015)
