Engr. Professor Samuel Ndueso John

Samuel Ndueso John was born on the 13th of April 1967 at Nung-Ukim, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He had his primary and secondary education in Ogun State and Higher School Certificate (HSC) at Ansarudeen College, Isolo, Lagos, Lagos State. Before completing the HSC, he got the Federal Government Scholarship through the Bureau for External Aid, Federal Ministry of Education for Tertiary Institution tenable in the Soviet Union (Common Wealth of Independent State (CIS)) – 1988 – 1994.

He had his higher education at Donetsk National Technical University where he successfully defended and obtained B.Sc, M.SC, MPhil, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Systems and Network Engineering, specializing in Computer Science, Computing Machines, Complex Systems, Networks, and security in 1993, 1994, 2000 and 2005, respectively. 

Samuel N. John is presently the Head of Department, a Professor of Computer Systems and Network Engineering in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria, and a member of the University Senate. He is a visiting professor at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, Kaduna State. He is an external examiner to the Department of Computer Science, North-West University, Mafikeng Campus, South Africa, and other Nigerian Universities.

He is a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), a Member, the prestigious Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET), United Kingdom (UK), and a registered Computer Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

He was awarded a research grant in collaboration with Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, through Education Trust Fund (ETF) (now TETFund) sponsorship to develop a “TCP/IP internet protocol and Communications Laboratories.” Also, grants through the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) for Research on “Implementation of Software-based Nomadic Base Station (NBS)” and TETFund for Research on “Design and Implementation of a Real-Time Metering Detection Device for Online Monitoring and Load Management in Energy Meter”.

He has served as the Dean, College of Engineering; University ICT Chair; Chair, College Curriculum Committee, Member; College Lecture Theatre Proposal Committee; Chair, College Sports Committee; Head of the Department (HOD); College Research & Postgraduate Committee; Chairman, Departmental Postgraduate Coordinator and Academic/Level Adviser when he was working at Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. He is actively involved in executing far-reaching works in Computer Design & Computing, Digital Principles & Systems Programming, Applied theory of digital machines, Computer Network Security, Forensic Analysis, Cyber Security, and Internet Technology. He also initiates and supervises research projects at all levels (postgraduate and undergraduate) in telecommunications, Computers Science, Computing machines, Complexes, Systems, Networks, and Security. 

He has published more than a hundred (100) several scholarly researched articles in reputable journals, conference proceedings and presented papers at international conferences, workshops, and seminars on diverse topics in areas including Computer Systems, Computer Security, Computational Intelligence, Computational Science, and Network Engineering. Over his more than twenty-two (22) years of career as a Lecturer, he had developed a skill set directly relevant to the Lecturing role in Computer Systems Engineering, including Computer Science, Computing Machines, Complex Systems, Networks, and Cyber Security Expertise. He has a vast knowledge of computing as related to communication to pursue indigenous development of ICT Convergence, Cyber Security, Cybercrime Analysis, Telemedicine, etc.  Overall, Prof. Samuel Ndueso John had consistently demonstrated problem-solving and outcome-based teaching, teamwork, and leadership abilities in every aspect of his duties at Donetsk National Technical University, Donetsk, Ukraine; University of Lagos, Lagos; Covenant University, Ota and Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna till date.

His research interest involves the recent research trends of data efficiency and Security Issues globally: Efficient Data Exchange in Computer Networks: Big Data and Security in an Emerging Smart World (Inaugural Lecture, 2018); Monitoring of Soldier Health, Safety and Performance using Wearable Sensor Networks; Mobile Phone Stunning System for Identifying Kidnapper Location; Neural Network Assisted Video Surveillance for Monitoring Human Activity; Improving the Security and Performance of Structured Overlay Network; Improvement of Routing Algorithm and Protocol in Wireless Sensor Network using Reinforcement Learning; Intrusion Detection & Prevention System (IDPS) and Surveillance Security Systems; Improving Data Transmission Efficiency over Power Line Communication (PLC) System; Implementation of Software-based Nomadic Base Station (NBS); Improvement of Handover Quality of Service (QoS) Metrics over Internet Mobile Environment; Energy and Spectral Efficiency Optimization in a Noma-Based Heterogeneous Cellular Network; Bandwidth and High Latency Effects on Application Performance across the Network; A Neuro-Fuzzy Model for Intelligent Last Mile Routing; Cybersecurity, Cybercrime and Forensic. He has successfully supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Prof. Samuel Ndueso John is a Nigerian and happily married to Mrs. Oliveth Bose John and blessed with children – Lucy John, a Gemologist & Trainer in Fitness, and Eliora Aniekabasi John. He enjoys Reading, Playing chess, and Football.
