RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP FOR A CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING MANUAL FOR MILITARY INSTRUCTORS/CIVILIAN LECTURERS OF THE NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY
A 4-day workshop was organized by the CCTTL to develop resource materials for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training in Teaching and Learning for military instructors/ civilian lecturers and teachers of the staff schools on the infusion of critical thinking in the curriculum of the Academy and the schools. Two (2) eminent Professors, Andrew Nkom from Nasarawa State University and Raymond Bako from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria were invited as resource persons. Participants were drawn from members of the Academy community (lecturers) who are members of the Education Enhancement Team (EET). The workshop was declared open by the Head of Centre, Dr. C.O. Emeka-Ogbonna. In her address, she drew the attention of the participants to the seriousness the NDA Commandant, Maj. Gen. I. M. Yusuf attaches to the infusion of critical thinking in the curriculum as well as in the teaching and learning strategies of the Academy. These erudite scholars took their turns to take the participants through the rudiments of preparing effective training manual. The developed training manual is currently in press to be released shortly towards a comprehensive training programme for all military instructors, civilian academics and teachers of the NDA staff schools.
