PROFILE OF PROFESSOR OKPANACH JOSHUA
Okpanachi Joshua, a Professor of Accounting and Finance was born into the family of Alhaji I Okpanachi and Mrs Franca Ukwuani Okpanachi at Iyale town in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria in the early 70’s. He attended L.G.E.D Primary School, Afor Gam Gam Ankpa, Kogi State, (FSLC, 1982). Federal School of Arts and Sciences Aba, Abia State (GCE ‘O’ level, 1989). Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Kaduna State (B.Sc. Accounting, 1998, and MSc. Degree in Accounting and Finance, 2001). For his passion in academics, he secured admission for his PhD degree in Accounting and Finance in 2008 and graduated in 2011 from the Nigerian Defence Academy (Premier Military University in West Africa) Kaduna, Kaduna State. In the year 2020, he obtained an MBA (Executive) Degree from Turkey by Geofidel Executive Education, England &, UK.
He is a member to many professional bodies, research affiliations and clusters both in Nigeria and abroad among which are Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), African Accounting and Finance Association (AAFA), Association of Cost Analysts in Nigeria (ACAN), Chartered Institute of Forensic and Investigative Professionals of Nigeria (CIFIPN), Exam Ethics Marshal International (EEMI), American Research Institute for Policy Development (ARIPD), European Centre for Research, Training and Development (ECRTD).
His lecturing career started as a part-time Graduate Assistant form the year 2000- 2002 in the Department of Accounting, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Kaduna State. He was then employed to services of Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna as an Assistant Lecturer on 5th April, 2002, promoted to lecturer II (2005-2008), lecturer I (2008-2011), Senior Lecturer (2011-2014), Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance (2014-2017), and Professor Accounting and Finance (October, 2017-till date).
He has authored and co-author over one hundred and one (101) publications in both local/foreign journals and attended various national/foreign conferences and workshops, He has also supervised research students and graduated seventeen (17) PhD in Accounting, three (3) PhD in Management and Sixty one (61) MSc Accounting. He served as a resource person to various tertiary institutions and bodies such as National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB), Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination (IJMBE), Nigerian College of Accountancy (NCA), Accreditation team Chairman and member under National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), visiting lecturer and external examiner/moderator to some institutions within and outside Nigeria.
Professor Joshua Okpanachi held various administrative and academic positions in his career, served in different academic committees. He is an assessor for promotion to Professorial cadre in many tertiary institutions both locally and internationally. He has externally examined nine (9) PhD and over twenty two (22) MSc candidates in Accounting/Finance in Nigeria and abroad. He also won some external grant support for research. Merit Award Winner, National Under-Graduate Essay Competition Organized by the Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos, Plateau State (1998).
He is an inaugurated Professor since 9th December 2021, currently the Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna from November 2019 till date. He has also served as Head, Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Sciences, Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna from November 2017 till January 10, 2022. He is happily married with children
