Prof. Muhammad Yusuf Onimisi
Muhammad Yusuf Onimisi was born on the 20th May, 1966 in okene local government Area of Kogi State. He has his primary and secondary education at okene in 1980 and 1985 respectively. He graduated from Bayero University, Kano in 1994 with a B.Sc degree in Physics. He obtained his M.Sc degree from the same university in 2001 and his Ph.D degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2006. He joined the services of Nigerian Defense Academy in 1995 as a Graduate Assistant and rose to the present rank of professor of solid state physics in 2015.
M.Y. Onimisi has engaged himself in many community services. He has been a Visiting Scholar to Kaduna State University, Umaru Musa University, Katsina since 2010 and currently to air force institute of technology Kaduna. He has served as external examiner for two consecutive years to Federal University of Technology, Mina in their undergraduate programme. He has also served as an external examiner to many PhD and M.Sc theses from various universities across Nigeria. He has examined a PhD thesis from University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2020. His main research interest is on Solar Cells material characterization and development with emphasis on Inorganic materials and recently dwelled into organic solar cells materials.
Prof. Onimisi has published his research findings (over 63 journal articles) in reputable Foreign and International Journals and he has also served as Reviewer to International and University based Journals including Physical Review International, Nigerian Journal of Renewable Journal and Academy Journal of Science and Engineering. Professor Onimisi has supervised over Fifteen (15) PhD Theses and over thirty five (35) MSc projects to completion. His work has been cited by over 424 scholars across the globe in Google Scholar citation with H-Index 0f 11 as at February 2023. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Physics and a regular member of American Physical Society (APS).
Professor Onimisi was two times head of Department of Physics for about seven (7) years and has served as chairman and members in various academy committees. He is currently the coordinator of center for renewable energy, Nigerian defense academy, Kaduna. He is happily married with children.
