Dr Olumide Akinwumi Oluwole holds a Ph.D. in Geography from University of Ibadan (2017), M. Tech in Remote Sensing Applications from Federal University of Technology Minna (1997) and B.Sc. (Hons) in Geography from University of Jos (1985). He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna. His area of specialization is Urban Geography and his research efforts are directed at Urban Issues; Mapping of land use/land cover resources in urban area, mapping of squatter settlements adjoining cities, application of remote sensing technique to military operations in urban area, residential mobility within cities, transportation studies within cities and assessment of ambient air quality in cities. Dr Oluwole has published articles in journals at the international, national and local levels. Likewise, he attended conferences at local and national levels. Dr Oluwole is a member of the Association of Nigerian Geographers (ANG) and Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA).
Dr Oluwole has brought values and innovations to teaching and research in the Department. He has co-supervised two Ph.D. students’ Theses, supervised one MPhil Dissertation, ten M.Sc. Dissertations, four MGIS Dissertations and numerous undergraduate projects to successful completion. He served as External Examiner to Kaduna Polytechnic in 2004/2005 academic session and held so many posts at the Departmental level, notable amongst them are Departmental Field Course Coordinator (1998 – 2021), Examination Officer (1999 – 2001), Chairman, Departmental Equipment Verification Committee (2004), Postgraduate Coordinator (2017 – 2021), Secretary, Committee on National Universities Commission Mock Accreditation (2015/2016 session), Member, Committee for consideration of Postgraduate Admission (2015 – 2021), Chairman, Departmental Welfare Committee (2019 – 2021).
Dr Oluwole also held responsibilities at the Faculty level, notably; Chairman, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Lectures Timetable Committee (2009 – 2018), FASS representative, Committee on the Commissioning of the NDA Bottled Water Project (2012), FASS representative, Committee on the inventory of items at the NDA Ribadu Campus (2012), Member, Committee on the verification of Results of 64 and 65RC, 2015/2016 session (2016) and member, FASS Results Screening Committee (2018), Member, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Postgraduate Committee (2017 – 2021). At the Postgraduate level; Postgraduate School Representative, External Defence of Theses (2018 – 2021), Member, Committee on Examination Malpractice Rules for Postgraduate Students (2019) and member, Postgraduate Admissions Committee (2019 – 2021). At the Academy level; Member, Committee to Evaluate the Possibility of Introducing Computer Based Test for Regular Course Admission (2017), Secretary, Committee of Enquiry on Suspected Complicity in Examination Malpractice (2018). Dr. Oluwole is happily married with children
