Associate Professor
Department of Chemistry
Dr. Modupe Munirat Adeyemi is an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry. Dr. MM Adeyemi is an Organic Chemist. She received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University in 2010 and has over twenty years of experience in Research and Development and in Academics. Her work in the area of Organic Chemistry, Natural Products covers therapeutic and antifeedant activities of plants including bio-assays screening for phytocompounds through antimicrobial, contact toxicity, and cytotoxicity tests on plant extracts, identification, and isolation of active constituents. Current research work includes evaluation of persistent organic pollutants [POPs] and other organic residues in varying water, plant, and animal samples, proposed synthesis of simple organic compounds that can serve as precursors/intermediates, and a collaborative R&D on the use of plant extracts with antifeedant and therapeutic principles as Nanoparticles for further biological and chemical research studies. She serves as Internal and External examiner for Postgraduate theses, and supervisor for Under- and Post- Graduate studies. She is also a reviewer and an Editorial Member for Journals and some Scientific Publishing Houses. She has authored a book and has over fifty (50) International and National Journal publications and conference papers. She is a Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria [CSN]; Fellow, Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria [ICCON], and a Member of both the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World [OWSD] and the Graduate Women International [GWI].
