DALET BATTALION WINS YEAR 2021 CADETS BRIGADE INTER BATTALION SHOOTING COMPETITION
Dalet Battalion have emerged winners at the recently concluded Cadets Brigade Inter-Battalion Shooting Competition, which held at the NDA Open Shooting Range, Afaka.
The Battalion won the competition with a total score of 549 points, ahead of Abyssinia Battalion, which emerged 2nd with a total score of 525 points, and Burma Battalion, with a total score of 490 points to place 3rd in the competition. Mogadishu Battalion, on the other hand, came in 4th with a total score of 460 points on the score board.
Before declaring the competition closed, the Guest of Honour at the occasion Brigadier General OJ Akpor Director of Military Training NDA, commended the cadets for the high level of confidence, commitment and proficiency exhibited throughout the competition. He disclosed that the competition is an important part of the cadets’ training, designed to help improve their confidence, proficiency in weapon handling and marksmanship, as well as enable the Academy training team to access the level of proficiency and professionalism attained by cadets in weapon handling.
Brig Gen OJ Akpor congratulated the Dalet Battalion and urged other battalions to put in more effort and re-strategize in order to win in subsequent competitions. He urged the cadets not to see
the competition as just as an avenue to win medals for themselves and their battalions but as an integral part of their professional development as soldiers.
The Guest of Honour further commended the Directorate of Military Training and Cadets Brigade for training the cadets for the competition. He said “I implore you to remain committed and untiring not only in the training of cadets in weapon handling but also in other aspects of training in the Academy”.
High point of the event include a novelty shooting by the Guest of Honour, Cadets Brigade Commander and Officers as well as presentation of trophy to Dalet Battalion.
