DALET BATTALION EMERGES WINNER OF 69RC CADETS BRIGADE INTER-BATTALION DRILL COMPETITION
Following a very impressive performance, Dalet Battalion emerged winners of the Cadets Brigade Inter-Battalion Drill Competition for the 69 Regular Course Cadets which was held at the Academy Parade Ground in Afaka.
The win comes after a keenly competed competition which saw the cadets exhibited their expertise and proficiency in Cane drills, Arms and Sentry drills.
The Champion Battalion during the competition, Dalet Battalion pooled a total of 2161.7 points to win the competition, while Mogadishu Battalion came 2nd with 2066.2 points. Abyssinia Battalion, with 2034.7 points emerged 3rd and Burma was 4th with 1918.5 points.
Speaking at the close of the competition, the Special Guest of Honour, Lt Col N Isuwa, Acting Chief Instructor Training Support Wing, NDA, disclosed that drill is a major training event in the NDA training calendar, designed to improve the professional development of the cadets. He added that, drill is the basic foundation of military regimentation and the bedrock of military discipline. Consequently, he charged the cadets to practice regularly, noting that this is the only way to attain high level of proficiency in drill.
“With regular practice, it is possible to attain a high level of proficiency in drill, which you have all demonstrated today. To attain such high standards, I know this did not come easy as you had to combine rehearsal with other competing training activities in the Academy. While you may need the competitve aspect to determine Champion Battalion, the benefits of today’s event would impact more on your professional development”.
Drill Competitions form a key part of training activities of the cadets in the Academy. The exercise is aimed at enhancing discipline, bearing, turn out and teamwork amongst the cadets. Further more, the cadets Brigade Inter – Battalion drill competition for 69 Regular Course Cadets is geared towards testing the cadets’ proficiency in in drill as well as assessing their general state of alertness, thereby building on the capacity of the participating Battalions and enhancing the Academy regimental values.
Highlight of the event is the presentation of awards and trophies to the Battalions. Sir attached are some of the pictures of the event.
