COMDT APPLAUDS NDLEA FOR SUPPORTING MILITARY’S EFFORTS AGAINST INSURGENCY
The Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy, Maj Gen IM Yusuf, has commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for what he described as helping the military in the tracking of criminal elements and terrorists.Major General IM Yusuf stated this at the Loyalty Hall, NDA Headquarters, when the Kaduna Zonal Commander of NDLEA, Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Momodu Sule, paid him a courtesy and advocacy visit.
The NDA Commandant stated that the military has since identified the nexus between drug abuse and crime or terrorism and is appreciative of any effort to curb drug and substance abuse in the society. General IM Yusuf, who noted with concern that drug abuse is very rampant amongst the youth also highlighted the dangers it is posing to the society at large.
Earlier in his remarks, the visiting Zonal Commander of NDLEA Kaduna, ACGN Momodu Sule, commended the Nigerian Defence Academy for “producing great men that have served the nation with distinction.” ACGN Sule, used the occasion to solicit for co-operation and synergy with the Academy in the sensitization of cadets, staff and service personnel of NDA about the dangers of drugs usage and abuse, a gesture the Commandant graciously approved of, since, according to the Commandant, ”it affects the performance and productivity of any professional soldier.”
Highlights of the visit include presentation of videos and poems showcasing the dangers of drug usage and abuse, decoration of the Commandant NDA and his Principal Staff Officers with NDLEA badges, signing of the visitors’ book by the NDLEA Zonal Commander and taking of a group photograph at the Academy Photo Stand.
