With academic qualification in chemistry, Mr Muhammad pursued an illuminating career as a University teacher with experience that spans over two decades. He has been teaching chemistry courses at all levels of academics including postgraduate courses for the past 23 years. Through those years, he achieved significant successes in improving the overall academic performance in teaching and research. His research work has been in the area of water quality assessment and industrial waste water evaluation and pollution control. His research focus is on identification and characterization of microbial interactions associated with the degradation of organic wastes used as bio-adsorbent leading to the development of pollution abatement and bio-energy production. He published research outputs in reputable scientific and environmental journals and edited, singly or jointly, Kaduna State Environmental Policy, National Solid Waste Management Policy, and about 15 top flight Consultancy Reports for organized private sector, Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Department of Petroleum Resources. Also, he has been involved in the development of academic curriculum on Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Forensic science, Environmental Health, Energy Security Management and Integrated Water Resources Management for implementation at postgraduate programs. In recognition of these academic research strength and experiences in environmental field, he was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Kaduna State Commissioner of Environment in 2019 and in August, 2020, the Honourable Minister of environment appointed him to serve as a member of his technical advisory committee. As a passionate University teacher, he trained and nurtured generations of chemists, supervising in the process Undergraduate, Masters and PhD Theses. In December 2019, he was appointed Head of Chemistry Department and since May, 2016, he has been the desk officer of Sustainable Development Solution Network and Coordinator of Intellectual property Office of the Nigerian Defence Academy. In November, 2020, the Chemical Society of Nigeria admitted him into the Professional Fellows of the society. He is also a Fellow of Leadership for Environment and Development and a registered Environmental Health Specialist in Nigeria. Currently, he is the Managing Director, Nigerian Defence Academy Consultancy Services Limited Kaduna. He is happily married and blessed with children.
