The Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command (AOC GTC) Nigerian Air Force Enugu, Air Vice Marshal IO Daramola, has paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) where he solicited for collaboration and support from the Academy in the training of Nigerian Airforce personnel.

The AOC GTC who noted that his visit to Kaduna was necessary in order to familiarise himself with units under his Command also added that the visit will enable him key into the Chief of the Air Staff’s Vision of ensuring effective joint force employment by reaching out to sister services, Tri-Service Units and other ministeries and agencies to find possible areas of collaboration for his Command.

He disclosed that the Ground Training Command is responsible for all non-technical ground training for Nigerian Airforce personnel, noting that his vision, upon taking over as AOC GTC is to key into the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao’s vision, which is to “Enhance and sustain critical Air Power Capabilities that are required for Joint Force Employment in pursuit of National Security Imperatives”.

AVM Daramola listed the units under his Command in Kaduna to include the Regiment Training Center (RTC), Nigerian Air Force Institute of Administration Management (NAFIAM) and the Military Training Center (MTC), which is equivalent to the Depot Nigerian Army and is saddled with the responsibility of providing basic training for both Officers and Airmen of the Nigerian Air Force.

The AOC who noted the impressive track record, land mark achievements and contributions of the Commandant NDA, in the war against terrorism and insurgency and expressed confidence that the latter will draw from his wealth of experience and expertise in the field and apply them in training of cadets at the Academy and produce qualitative officers to support the current push and lead the Armed Forces of Nigeria in future.

He thanked the Commandant NDA for the continuous contributions and support in providing the RTC and MTC with instructors and expressed hope of more support, while also assuring that GTC will always be willing to provide support to NDA whenever it is called upon to do so.

In his response, the Commandant NDA, expressed delight with the visit of the AOC GTC, and praised the existing relationship between NDA and GTC in the area of training and assured the AOC of NDA’s willing to improve collaboration with GTC to the overall benefits of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the country at large.
